Why is the dollar weak?

Why is the dollar so weak? If it's because of inflation and constant printing then why doesn't the FED decrease the amount of printing? Wouldn't this solve the inflation problem. Also why was gold and silver doing good with a weaker dollar?(few weeks ago) I'm also confused with commodities .... One last question can anyone explain the GDP to me and it's correlation to the dollar.
