Is it just a cold? Or is it something worse? HELP!?

My boyfriend is coughing up 'phlegm,' i guess you could say. He said it comes out, almost like hes puking, but not quite puke, and he said its a tone of green. He said his eyes hurt, and they are watery. He keeps coughing almost non-stop. He said his brother had bronchitis real recent, and that maybe bronchitis is what he has too? We're not sure. What do you think? And what kind of medicines should he be taking? Thanks guys (:
